Mimi Ratz-Wiesenberg Dance Group

The group, which was founded by Mimi Ratz-Wiesenberg, combines capacities in the areas of dance, music, acting, and vocal expression.

The improvisation which is integral to Ratz-Wiesenberg's way of work is based on internal emotional situations which are realized as pure body movement. These materials later undergo a process of severe selection. The personal materials are carefully rearranged and abstracted into a new whole. Tension is therefore created by the interaction between the human and the internalized on the one hand, and the impersonal and the abstract on the other.

The collaboration with her partner, the composer Menachem Wiesenberg, brought about a great number of works that were based on his original music performed live on stage. Ratz-Wiesenberg's choreographic language intricately counterpoints the music. This ongoing vibrant dialogue adds to the unique experience of Ratz-Wiesenberg's style.

Their collaborative performances were commissioned by festivals in Israel and around the world.
